Product regulatory compliance

Question

Regarding the regulatory compliance requirements for smooth passage of kitchen products into a specific country, I have the following question:
What are the specific product regulatory compliance requirements, particularly in terms of EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances), that our battery electric kitchen products need to meet to ensure smooth entry into your country?

Answer

In the Slovak Republic, the area of conformity assessment is stipulated by Act No. 56/2018 Coll. on conformity assessment of the product, making available the product on the market, and amending certain Acts (Act No 56/2018Coll.). This Act implements general requirements from the area of conformity assessment (New Legislative Framework). For your information, the bilingual (Slovak-English) list of products from the area of conformity assessment according to the Act No 56/2018 Coll. and applicable regulations is available at the following link: List of Technical regulations from the area of conformity assessment according to the Act No. 56/2018 Coll. and European legislation of the New Approach.
As regards EMC, Directive 2014/30/EU on harmonization of the laws of the Member States relating to electromagnetic compatibility applies. The directive has been transposed into the Slovak legislation by Regulation of the Government of the SR No. 127/2016 Coll. on electromagnetic compatibility.
We also assume that your products may fall within the scope of:
– Directive 2014/35/EU on the harmonization of the laws of the Member States relating to the making available on the market of electrical equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits (LVD), transposed into the Slovak legislation by Regulation of the Government of the SR No. 148/2016 Coll. on the making available on the market of operational equipment intended for use within certain limits.
– Directive 2006/42/EC on machinery, transposed into the Slovak legislation by Regulation of the Government of the SR No. 436/2008 Coll. laying down details of technical requirements and conformity assessment procedure for machinery. In respect of ROHS requirements, we recommend you to address the responsible authority, the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic.
In case your products are subject to the general product safety requirements according to Directive 2001/95/EC on general product safety (into the Slovak legislation transposed by Government Regulation No. 404/2007 Coll. on general product safety), we recommend you to address the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, specifically Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance Section, responsible for this area. Contact to the Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance Section of the Slovak Ministry of Economy.
