Mandatory labeling regulations of food

Question

I know that the European Commission is working to draw up Common Homogenization Guidelines on Waste Labelling (in addition to the EC DECISION 129-1997).
I would kindly ask if your country has mandatory labeling regulations for imported products marketed in your country.
Could you tell me if there are Waste Labeling Obligations in your country?

Answer

Please find below reply of the responsible ministry – the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic to your enquiry:
From the point of view of waste management legislation, packaging placed on the market must be marked in accordance with § 20 of Decree No 373/2015 of the Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic on extended responsibility of producers of reserved products and on the management of reserved waste streams, as amended (only in Slovak language). These marking requirements are according to 97/129/EC: Commission Decision of 28 January 1997 establishing the identification system for packaging materials pursuant to European Parliament and Council Directive 94/62/EC on packaging and packaging waste
In case more information relating Packaging Waste Labelling is needed, we recommend you to address Waste Management Department at the Circular Economy Section of the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic.
